What is an Ombuds?

An Ombuds is a peacemaker, confidant, compass, and systems change agent. As an advanced conflict transformation practitioner, Ombuds provide confidential, informal, impartial, and independent assistance in resolving conflicts and addressing sensitive and complex issues and concerns within an organization or association, or for large events such as conferences. Often referred to as an organization's conscience, an Ombuds plays a critical role in upholding organizational culture, integrity, performance, and potential. What Services does an Ombuds provide?

Ombuds provide a spectrum of services to address concerns, transform conflict, and develop organizations and their workforce, including:

    • Facilitated Dialogue

    • Informal Mediation

    • Shuttle Diplomacy / Intermediary

  • Training & Professional Development

    • Coaching

    • Training and presentations

  • Organizational Development & Transformation

    • In-depth work with units or organizations to assess conflicts and concerns and facilitate resolution/repair/transformation.

    • Anonymous input to leaders and others in positions of influence so that areas of concern can be addressed, and positive change can be advanced, while protecting the identities of those coming forward.
